Let’s welcome May 1st, the most floral, joyful, and symbolic day of spring in Greece — Πρωτομαγιά! 🌼🌞

But have you ever wondered where this word comes from?

🔤 Πρωτομαγιά = Πρώτος (first) + Μάης (May)It literally means “the first of May”, and it marks the heart of spring — a celebration of life, flowers, and renewal! 🌷🕊️

In Greece, it’s a day to connect with nature, make flower wreaths (στεφάνια), and welcome the beauty of the new season. 🌿💐It’s also linked to ancient traditions honoring Persephone and the rebirth of nature—yes, Greek mythology is always hiding in our words! 😉

Happy Πρωτομαγιά to all! 💙Let’s celebrate spring with words, colors, and smiles!
